PLACES TO BE VISIT IN ELLA

 Little Adam's Peak

Breathtaking experience in top of the hill.Where you seem to be standing at the edge of the world and everything around you seems to disappear at your feet. 40 minutes walk from Ella town or possible to travel by a vehicle or a TukTuk.





Rawana Ella Rock temple and cave

Legend has it that it was used by King Rawana to hide the Princess Sita. It is also thought to be connected to the cave at the Dowa rock temple in Bandarawela (part of King Walagamba's famous 'tunnel network').

 Dunhinda Falls

60 minutes’ drive from Sunnyside. One of the country’s most renowned waterfalls is Dunhinda, on the Mahiyanganaya Road, about 5 km from Badulla. Flowing from BaduluOya, the 210 feet high Dunhinda, is surrounded by mountains and jungle


Water Fall : Located on the way to Ella rock ,2km walk on rail way track towards to Bandarawella.


 Demodara Nine Arch Bridge

20 minutes drive from Sunnyside. This beautiful and amazing bridge was built between the two railway stations - Ella and Demodara during the British Colonial period. The 99.6ft high bridge is known in Sinhala as "Ahasnamayepalama" (Nine skies bridge).  Half an hour walk from Ella town on the railway track towards to Badulla. 




Ella Rock

Wonderful scenery once you reach the top of the rock and many nice surprises on the way starting from agriculture fields, tea plantations, scrubs, and forest.





Dowa Rock Temple 

The Dowa rock temple could be considered as a MahayanaSculpture with a huge unfinished Buddha image carved into the rock face.It has been built safely inside a ring of mountains. A beautiful river is flown across the plateau. Hence, the area had earned the name, Dowa. 




Demodara Railway Circle

Demodara Railway CiDemodara World famous Railway Tunnel, where the station on top of it. When a train arrives from Badulla it goes through the tunnel then moves upward in a long circle to the station built right on top of the tunnel. You can visit the famous Ooduoo were tea factory as well.




Ravana Water Fall

Ravana Ella falls is a little more distant from here and is known to be one of the widest falls of Sri Lanka.Ravana Ella falls is about 30 foot high and is perceptible from the main road.

Kandaviharaya Rock Temple: travel 16 km towards Wellawaya and turn right at Hunuketiyavillage .follow the sign boards up to the temple. 4.5km from Hunuketiya village.


Bogoda Wooden Bridge

The Bogoda wooden bridge was built in the 16th century during the Dambadeniya era. This is said to be the oldest surviving wooden bridge in the world. The bridge is situated at 13 km south of Badulla city, Sri Lanka. All parts of this bridge were constructed from wood, including the use of wooden nails as fixing material. The roof tiles show the influence of Kingdom of Kandy. The bridge was built across the Gallanda Oya, which linked Badulla and Kandy on an ancient route.
